GCC, DCC off to impressive starts
GCC and DCC got off to impressive starts in the Digicel-sponsored/Georgetown Cricket Association (GCA) T20 Tournament for First Division teams.
Over at the Police Sports Club ground, GCC beat Transport by eight wickets, while at DCC in Queenstown, the hosts defeated Police by a whopping 130 runs.
Transport took first strike after winning the toss and made109 all out with Kevin Alphonso hitting a top-score of 28. Devon Nandan 27 and Shawn Massiah 21 were the other main contributors.
Leon Johnson grabbed 4-10 from 2.1 overs; Jeetendra Sookdeo took 2-11 off 2 and Ricardo Jadunauth 2-13 from 4. In reply, GCC were led to victory through an unbeaten innings of 71 from opener Wasim Haslim, whose knock contained eight fours and three sixes as they ended on 112-2 in 11.1 overs.
Ricardo Jadunauth contributed 22.
Over at DCC-
Police won the toss and sent DCC into bat and they made an imposing 212 with Andrew Lyght Jr. hammering an entertaining 89 which was littered with eight towering maximums and five powerfully struck boundaries. Kohen Ismond added 39.
Jason Heyliger and Randolph Knights each took two wickets.
Police in their turn at the crease could only muster 89 all out in 11.4 overs.
Trevor Benn made 37 laced with three sixes and two fours, while Leron Primo with 4-28 off 4 overs and Denis Squires 3-16 from 2.4 overs did the damage.
