The Guyana Horseracing Authority in collaboration with the six active horseracing Clubs in Guyana has release racing dates for the rest of the year.
A number of races have already been held and a packed programme is in store for the 2010-2011 racing season which is expected to finish on January 2, 2011.
The first half of the racing season ends in May with no race schedule for the month of June.
All of the clubs have been allocated dates with the next race set for Sunday April 4 at the Port Mourant Turf Club.
A look at the dates allocated is as follows:
The Kennard’s Memorial Turf Club situated at Bush Lot Farm in the Central Corentyne area will see their dates allocated are May 16; August 15 and the December 26. They held one meet so far.
The next Club is the Ryan Crawford Memorial Turf Club which is found at Alness also in Central Corentyne area and they have three racing dates remaining from an initial allocation of five.
Their next big event is the Post Caricom July 4 meet, then September 26 with their final meet being on November 21.
The Port Mourant Turf Club found at Port Mourant in the lower Corentyne area was allocated three dates with their April 4, Easter Sunday meet being their first meet for the year and next in line on the GHRA racing calendar. The other dates are; August 1 and 2 and December 12.
Over the river on the West Coast of Berbice, the Norman Singh Memorial Turf Club situated at Bel Air (No6) only has two dates, their first meet will be on July 18 with the other set for October 24.
The Rising Sun Turf Club at Arima Park West Coast Berbice was allocated the most dates, six.
One meet was held already with their next engagement being on May 2; the other dates are May 30, August 29, November 7 and finally January 2, 2011.
The Anjue & Hamlet Park race club of Branch road Mahaicony, East Coast Demerara is the only horseracing club in Demerara and they have been allocated three dates.
Their first meeting will be on April 18 to be followed by meets on the October 10 and the September 12.
