National TT team preparations underway
Senior players lending assistance to GTTA
The National Table Tennis Mini-Cadet, Cadet and Junior team preparations are underway at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall with some senior national players assisting the Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) with the massive squads.
Up to Sunday, Kaieteur Sport caught up with General Secretary of the GTTA, Godfrey Munroe, who is also the current national table tennis champion. Munroe was putting in a practice session with some of the young players.
Senior national player, Christopher Franklin was doing the same along with National Coach, Linden Johnson, who told this newspaper yesterday that the GTTA will continue to employ the services of the senior players to help the juniors.
“All the players are not coming together during the week. The full squad only come out together on the weekends. We have some other senior players that usually come to work with them,” Johnson said when contacted.
The National Coach said that the GTTA is attempting to maximise the use of all Level I coaches in preparing the mini-cadet, cadet and junior squad scheduled to compete in the town of Utuado, Puerto Rico, April 2-8.
