… Skeletal remains

Relatives came forward yesterday to positively identify Jocelyn Prince, whose skeletal remains were found near the Lamaha Canal on Sunday.
Police sources said that a female relative of the victim informed them that Prince had resided at Mocha, Arcadia, East Bank Demerara.
Kaieteur News understands that the woman stated that the 67-year-old man was an alcoholic and that he deserted his wife and a son about six months ago.
It is believed that he went to live on a dam near the Lamaha Canal. Prince’s skeletal remains were discovered on Sunday hanging from a tree on the southern bank of the canal.
Investigators suspect that the victim took his own life. The discovery was made by some men who were hunting iguanas in the densely vegetated area.
From appearances, the victim was clad in a shirt and trousers which were damaged by a brush fire that raged through the area recently.
Investigators recovered a Nokia cellular phone and Prince’s national identification card in the pocket of his trousers.
