Residents welcome ambulance, but want road fixed

Dear Editor,
I am very pleased that the issue for an ambulance to the Kwakwani community could have been addressed with such speed.
In less than a week after the issue was raised with the regional official of Region Ten, an ambulance was made available.
Now if I should quote the Minister of Health correctly, “efforts will be made to procure more durable ambulances, particularly for the regional operations”.
I can say without any fear of contradiction that unless the Kwakwani/Linden road is fixed properly we can procure ambulances as sturdy and durable as caterpillar bulldozers it will not last a year.
Last year $200 million was promised to fix this road with a plan prepared and agreed upon by stakeholders in Region Ten. What became of that plan?
The $200 million work that was done to this road last year will be tested during the rainy season.
So Mr. Minister, even though we the residents are very thankful for providing us with this ambulance, please ask your colleagues at cabinet to fix the Kwakwani/Linden road properly so that the ambulance will last for some time.
A proper road for residents of the sub-region is long over due.
