As part of its continued humanitarian efforts, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Days Saints yesterday endowed the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre with some much needed items to help sustain its operation.
On Wednesday, Humanitarian Missionary, Elder Whitehead, in the company of Public Affairs Director of the Georgetown District and Attorney-at-Law, Leslie Sobers, handed over a quantity of items to the Rehabilitation Centre. Among the donation were a number of crotches and other forms of walking aid.
According to Sobers, this is all part of the church’s humanitarian efforts which commenced last year. Elder Whitehead revealed that more than 25 similar projects were undertaken under the auspices of the church during last year around Guyana.
“We’re always happy to help the people in Guyana, they are good people. We love to be here but we are going home in three months so we have a lot of things to finish up.”
The church has over the years established a presence throughout the Caribbean and has even extended its services to earthquake-hit Haiti. And it is through funding provided by members of the church that the humanitarian effort is sustained, Elder Whitehead said.
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
