Winifred Gaskin Memorial Secondary School (WGMSS) captured the All Females Circle Tennis Competition which was played recently in Region #6, at the Rose Hall Estate Welfare ground.
The competition which was organised by Al Sport & Tour Promotions saw Winifred Gaskin defeating Berbice High School (BHS) in the final. Taking first strike BHS made 159-5 with Yonnell O’Brien 67, Tonya Jones 40, Mellisa Mentore 11 and Natasha Baker 10, being the principal scorers.
Winifred Gaskin in their reply, ended on 162-3 with MVP Sherica Campbell 61 and Shondell Mansel 67 leading the team to victory.
Earlier, Winifred Gaskin beat Corentyne Comprehensive School (CCS). CCS compiled 106-9 with Nakasse Fraser 30, Tenesha Cort 22, and Shauna Sinclair 10. WGMSS needing 107 to win closed on 112-5 with S Campbell 46, S Fraser 19, Abiola Campbell 16.
The MVP was CCS’s Shauna Sinclair.
In the Mixed Team final-
CCS gained sweet revenge by beating WGMSS.
CCS made 154-2 off 50 deliveries with MVP Male Student Mark Bagot 67, Lynden Casey 49, and Garfield Campbell 19.
WGMSS in their turn in the circle were restricted to 141-15, Kevis Mendonca 45, Cleroy Hunte 32, Abiola Campbell 14, Nicassie Fraser 12. In the other game, CCS defeated BHS.
BHS made 81-5 and CCS reached 86-3.
