A Banks truck, GEE 6186, collided with a black Camry, PGG 8100, at the junction of Sheriff and Duncan Streets and left the driver of the car nursing serious wounds at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC), and also damaged two more parked vehicles, a green Prado, PLL 3129 and a dark blue Toyota, PLL 8122.
According to Willard Grant, the driver of the parked Prado that was also damaged, he was in front of Ramchand’s Auto Spares, when the Banks truck, heading in a southern direction lost control and slammed into the black car (PGG8100).
He said that after the truck slammed into the car it was pushed into two parked vehicles which belonged to him and his wife (PLL 3129) and (PLL8122); he later heard that the driver jumped out of the Banks truck and said that “his brakes had locked off.”
According to sources the driver of the Banks Truck is Collis Downer. A resident in the area said that many accidents had occurred in the area before, claiming many lives. However, on many occasions she would have to chase children from the parapet to the bus shed because they are not aware of the danger of the vicinity.
“Can you imagine if a child was standing there today,” the resident said.
