Gun toting bandits rob man of over $100.000
The Police at the East La Penitence Police Station have launched an investigation into a daring robbery less than two hundred meters from their office that left the victim with losses totaling over $100.000.
Ryan Wharton of Go Slow Avenue, Tucville, told investigating officers that he was walking north along Mandela Avenue with a friend. He said that they were just about to cross over to the western half of the street when one of two men that were standing on the road called out to them. One of the men was a short man and sported thick dreadlocks. The other was tall and his hair was plaited.
Wharton said the men appeared to be harmless and he did not suspect them to be up to anything funny so he stopped to see what they wanted. He further explained that the pair walked up and one of them grabbed Forrester’s hand while the other accosted him. He said that as he was about to run, one of the men pulled out a gun and pressed it to his ribcage. The bandit’s accomplice relieved Wharton of his possessions which included $80.000, a cell phone and a bunch of keys. The men then calmly walked away.
Wharton then lodged a report at the East La Penitence Police Station.
A distraught Wharton said that he did not know any of the men but would be able to recognise them if he sees them again. The man said that he was reluctant to leave the cash at home for security reasons. Wharton further explained that even though he carried such a substantial amount of cash he was not afraid since he was attired in a shabby a pair of short pants and a dirty pair of slippers. He said that he did not expect anyone to suspect that he carried such a large sum of money. The young man believes that one of his friends who knew he had the cash may have set up the robbery.
Meanwhile, the police have confirmed that Wharton has lodged a report at the station. The officer said that he was advised to return to the station this morning to peruse several mug shots in the hope of identifying the bandits.
