Cabinet Outreach commences today

The government is commencing its Cabinet outreach programme today in Region Six, according to Head of the Presidential Secretariat, Dr. Roger Luncheon.
At his post Cabinet media briefing yesterday, Dr Luncheon explained that the outreach will address the issue of Government’s effectiveness in improving accountability, gathering and obtaining value for money in public procurement and improving the delivery of public goods and services within communities.
The outreach will see ten teams of Cabinet members engaging residents from 30 communities. At the end of the outreach, the statutory Cabinet meeting will take place in New Amsterdam.
The teams will also focus on garnering inputs into the planning process for the 2010 budget. According to Dr Luncheon, the teams would be holding three meetings, with the first beginning at 10:00 hrs.
Additionally, President Bharrat Jagdeo would be meeting residents in Crabwood Creek; Mibuicuri, Black Bush Polder and Port Mourant. He will then hold a press conference in New Amsterdam after those meetings.
