The Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha is celebrating its 36th anniversary.
A special function is scheduled for today at the Shri Krishna Mandir, Campbellville, Georgetown.
Today’s function brings together Guyana’s top singers Sookranie Boodhoo, Krishna Mandata, Mohan Nandu, Rekha Singh, Suchitra Rampersaud, Ramkissoon Singh and Besham Boodhoo and others who will intersperse the proceedings with appropriate bhajans.
The Sabha is celebrating its anniversary with Satnarayan Puja and interpretation of the Satnarayan Vrat Katha. Pandit Jagmohan Persaud, Bramahand Prashad and other Pandits will join in the puja, which will be attended by Dharmic members from Berbice, Essequibo and Demerara.
The Sabha’s President, Reepu Daman Persaud, indicated that the Sabha lived through trying periods in this country’s history. He said that it was a challenge to lead the Sabha during the turbulent period in our history.
However, Persaud declared that the Sabha “won the battle” in overcoming those challenges to the point where Hinduism now shares equal prestige with other faiths.
He said that the Hindu community is more informed and alert to the various concepts of Hinduism due to the Sabha’s network and the promotion of Hindu Dharm.
All are invited to the special satsangh which will be chaired by Mrs. Chandra Gajraj.
