Junior Alleyne, 17, was yesterday remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It was alleged that on December 29, Alleyne stole one electric generator, property of Embali Hudson. He pleaded not guilty. He was unrepresented in court yesterday.
Hudson’s brother, Esan Lucky, was present. He told the court that he secured his premises and left. The man said that he returned about an hour later and saw Alleyne in the yard and the generator was missing.
Police Prosecutor, Stephen Telford, told the court that bail should not be granted to the accused since he is known to the police. The prosecutor added that since Alleyne’s arrest there has been a reduction in crime within the neighbourhood.
Bail was denied and the accused is expected to make another court appearance on January 12.
