Female footballers rewarded as Goodwill series ends
Nikita Persaud is MVP; Ronella Albert best goalie; Ashley Rodrigues highest goal scorer
USA-based Nikita Persaud was named the Most Valuable Player of the just concluded International women’s Goodwill tournament which was contested by respective USA and Local Guyana teams who played against and defeated Suriname.

The USA team won 2-0 while their local based counterparts triumphed 2-1. Local goalkeeper Ronella Albert was named the best goalkeeper while Ashley Rodrigues took the trophy for scoring the most goals in the tournament. Rodrigues netted 3 including a double.
Trophies and medals were also presented to all three teams with the USA collecting the Champions Cup as they chalked up two wins in as many matches. They scored a total of 7 goals without conceding.
Attention will now be focused on putting together a solid Guyana ‘Golden Lady Jaguars’ ahead of next year’s qualifying competitions for the FIFA Female World Cup and Olympic competitions. (Franklin Wilson)
