Mohander Persaud slams 1st ton in losing cause

Mohander Persaud of Sleep In X1 slammed the first century of the Carib Beer sponsored Ministry of Culture Youth and Sport / Guyana Softball League in the East Coast Zone as several teams recorded wins in the latest round of play on the East Coast, East Bank and Essequibo.
Following are the results from the various zones.
East Coast Zone: Ogle ground. Harry XI defeated Sleep in by 3 wickets.
Sleepin XI won the toss and batted first scoring 237-8 in 15 overs – Mohander Persaud 134 (10×6; 3×4), Chanderpaul Rampersaud 4-35 from 3 overs. In reply Harry XI cruised to 240-7 in 13 overs – Kemy Dindyal 90 (8×6; 2×4), Azimul Hanif 54 (3×6; 2×4), Mohander Persaud 2-14.
Mike’s Photocopy Center defeated Keshan XI by 4 wickets.
Keshan XI won the toss and batted first scoring 168-8 in 15 overs – Bharat Singh 44, Vishwanauth Jannu 43, Kalesh Deosarran 3-27 from 3 overs. In reply Mike’s Photocopy XI made169-6 in 14 overs – Avenash Rooplass 65 (5×6; 2×4), Chris Ramnarine 35, Jannu 3-45.
Keshan XI returned to defeat Ogle under-19 by 57 runs.
Keshan XI batted first and scored 176-9 in 15 overs – Vishwanauth Jannu 63, Richard Doltruis 63, Navin Seeram 3-46. Ogle under-19 folded for 119 in 14.2 overs – James Singh 34, Ravendra Ramnauth 2-24.
Harry XI defeat Gas XI by 4 wickets.
Gas XI lost the toss, were inserted and made a challenging 150-7 in 15 overs – Nadir Baskh hit 43, Kemy Dindyal took 2-20. Harry XI  responded with 151-6 in 14 overs – Kemy Dindial led with 80 (7×6; 3×4).
East Bank Zone played at the Eve Leary ground.
Street Boys XI defeated Speed Boat XI by 7 wickets.
Speed Boat XI won the toss, batted and were bowled out for 132 in their first match in the tournament. Navendra Kooblall top scored with 34 (3×6), Nazim Latif 17, Lionel Seenarine took 4-15 and Ansar Latchman 3-18. In reply Street Boys XI chalked up 136-3 in 14 overs – Ansar Latchman made 40* ( 4×6), Rakesh Gangaram 36 (2×6), Navin Kooblall 2-25.
Essequibo Zone played at the Reliance ground.
Reliance Warriors defeated El Dorado Sports Club by 3 runs.
Reliance Warriors 107 all out in 14.5 overs – Shivanandan Madholall 39, Seelall Shivamber 24, Balchand Shivamber 20, Munir Khan 3- 34. El Dorado fell short by 3 runs being bowled out for 104 in 14.5 overs – Roy Persaud 30, Narendra Madholall 2-13.
Defending countrywide champions Die Hard XI squeezed to a 1 run win over Airy Hall.
Die Hard XI made 140-6 in 15 overs. Airy Hall was sent packing for 139 in 14.5 overs.
Meanwhile, play will continue this weekend in the Essequibo zone with the following matches; At Reliance ground from 09:30hrs, Reliance Warriors face Golden Fleece and from 12:30hrs Airy Hall opposes Jaguars XI. At Suddie ground United Brothers tangles with Cullen from 09:30hrs. From the same time at Pomena ground, Pomena Scheme come up against Affiance B while at the Affiance ground Affiance A play Young Rivals also from 09:30hrs.
