Fourteen year old left arm spinner Moin Khan bagged 6 wickets for one run as Wakenaam defeated Leguan by 98 runs in the District 16 (E’bo Islands) Inter Branch U-15 schools 40 overs cricket competition played recently at the Wakenaam Community Centre Ground.
Wakenaam batted first and made 157 all out in 38 overs. National U-15 vice captain Ricardo Adams led with 48 while Mohamed Hassan scored 33 as Tulsieram Premnauth took 3-37, Paul Debideen 2-15 and Paul Simbu 2-15. Leguan in reply were bundled out for 59 in 18 overs. Hassan supported Khan with 3-14.
The match was used as a yardstick to select the District to team to participate in the National Schools U-15 competition. The District lost to upper Corentyne in the national final that was played at the Guyana National Stadium last year.
Meanwhile the District 16 (E’bo Islands) team is as follows: Ricardo Adams (capt), Mohamed Hassan (V.C), Moin Khan, Kemo Paul, Leorayan Ramlakhan, Tamesh Charritar, Tulsieram Premnauth, Tatteshwar Chaetram, Vishal Masedas, Paul Debideen, Paul Williams, Paul Sinbu , Ramnarine Jairam and Alex Stephen.
