-police issue bulletins for more terror suspects
Ballistic tests carried out on shells recovered from the scenes of last Wednesday’s reign of terror in the city have revealed that they were fired from weapons that are not on the police records.
Police Commissioner Henry Greene yesterday confirmed that the shells did not match any that were recovered from other crimes scenes.
Forty two 7.62 x 39 spent shells, five warheads and a 12 gauge cartridge were recovered by the police at scenes near the Brickdam Police Station while two more 7.62×39 were recovered near the East Ruimveldt police outpost.
The revelation points to the use of new AK-47 assault rifles by the gang that attacked the buildings.
Police Commissioner Henry Greene had earlier told a press conference that two of the perpetrators have been positively identified and are the same persons who are associated with the gang, whose members were implicated and charged with the arson committed earlier this year on the Ministry of Health on Brickdam.
Two policemen Detective Corporal 16450 Indarpaul and Constable 18961 Singh, who were asleep in the Barrack Room at the time, were injured during last Wednesday’s attack on the Brickdam Police Station.
Police had earlier indicated that three rifles were used in the attack and the spent shells recovered at the scenes bore rust and appeared to have been improperly stored.
Meanwhile, police yesterday issued more wanted bulletins for persons they say are linked to the spate of attacks on police stations and other public buildings in the city, and murder.
They have also re-issued bulletins for escapees Kurt Thierens called ‘Glasses, and Colin Jones called ‘Bunny’, who are suspects in the arson attack that destroyed the Ministry of Health building in Brickdam.
The other wanted men are Keith Ferrier called ‘General’, Charles Clarke called ‘Pumpkin or ‘Perkin’, Shawn Benn and Trevor Archer.
The bulletin gave the last known address of Colin Jones called ‘Bunny’ as Lot Three West La Penitence.
He is described as being dark in complexion and five feet six inches in height.
Shawn Benn is dark in complexion and resides at Lot 53 Princes Street, Lodge. It gave the address of Charles Clarke, called ‘Pumpkin’ or ‘Perkin’ as Lot 26 Sussex and Saffon Streets, Charlestown. He is fair in complexion.
Trevor Archer, of Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke/Linden, is dark in complexion.
The addresses of Kurt Thierens called ‘Glasses’, are given as Lot 102 Buxton Middle Walk, East Coast Demerara, National Avenue, Triumph, East Coast Demerara; 219 Residential Area Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke Linden Highway. He is 31, five feet six inches tall and slimly built.
Keith Ferrier called “General”, is 48, fair in complexion, medium in build and his last known address is given as Lot 1689 National Avenue, South Ruimveldt.
The bulletin urged anyone with information that could lead to their arrest to contact the police on telephone numbers 225-6411, 225-2700, 226-7065, 225-2227, 226-6978, 225-8196, 223-8940, 225-6941 or 911 or the nearest police station.
All information will be treated with strict confidence.
