Yesterday at the entity’s main outlet, Camp and Middle Streets, Georgetown, Director of Operations Gregory De Gannes said it’s always an honour for Church’s Chicken to be associated with the Kashif and Shanghai tournament.
“We are more elated that Kashif and Shanghai are celebrating their 20th anniversary and the King {Pele} is going to be here. We are again involved in sponsorship and providing great food at the event at the Stadium. Again, we do whatever we can to facilitate sports in the country.”
Co-Director of the K&S Organisation Aubrey ‘Shanghai’ Major, who collected the cheque from De Gannes, expressed thanks to Church’s Chicken for partnering with them for the 3rd consecutive year while disclosing that the undisclosed amount is also the biggest they have received from the company.
Major, noted that Church’s contribution has come at a time when they are really in need having to prepare for the visit of the greatest footballer in the world and national treasure of Brazil, Edison Arantes do Nascimento – King Pele.
Pele, also FIFA’s football Ambassador will be the special guest of honour at the opening ceremony of the Kashif and Shanghai tournament set for December 13, 2009 at the Guyana National Stadium, Providence.
Co-Director Kashif Muhammad in a brief comment stated that Church’s Chicken contribution is more than just sponsorship, “we are very happy with the high level of service and standard offered by this entity and fans will benefit from that in the games slated for the National Stadium.”
