Region Three chairman, Julius Faerber, and Neighbourhood Democratic Council Chairman of Meten-Meer-Zorg, Mohamed Pasha, are yet still very tongue-tied about the necessary information relating to the amount of money spent on the bridge at Meten- Meer-Zorg.
Residents of Ocean Garden had told this newspaper that they did not get their money’s worth.
The residence also stated that the work was shoddy.
Regional Chairman Julius Faerber said that the material for the bridge was donated by the region to refurbish the bridge.
However when asked to state the value of the materials used on the bridge the chairman became elusive. Later, he was too busy or always in a meeting.
The NDC chairman had previously said that there is some additional work to be done to the road leading to the bridge. Earth was placed there and when this settles, crush and run would be laid on it.
However when contacted subsequent to his statement he angrily refused to say anything more.
Speaking to Kaieteur News on problems plaguing the community, Julian Wesslen, the treasurer of a committee that was formed five years ago to oversee the village affairs, said that the community needed assistance to solve the various problems in the village.
Wesslen further said that whenever he decides to bring certain problems of the community to the attention of the local authorities, the NDC Chairman, Mohamed Pasha, would be “very non-co-operative.”
