Gang leaves teenager seriously ill
Munesh Ramsaroop, 18, who was severely beaten by known men, on Thursday night last, at his aunt’s residence in Mainstay, on the Essequibo Coast, has been admitted a patient at the Suddie Public Hospital.
Ramsaroop was admitted to the Accident and Emergency Unit early yesterday morning, after his condition worsened. At the Suddie Public Hospital reporters were denied any information from doctors. But the man’s mother, who was present, said that three doctors and a senior nurse were attending to the patient.
Pamela Ramsaroop, Munesh’s mother, said that her son who is now crying out for abdominal pains, may be transferred today to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
She said that she gleaned this after consulting with the doctors who said that her son may have contracted severe bacteria and
Ramsaroop’s aunt, Lynette, who operates a restaurant at Mainstay, said that around 19:15 hours Thursday night, her nephew who frequents her home, was visiting and was in her shop when he was attacked.
According to the very upset woman, one of the attackers drove into her yard and went straight into her shop, and started to physically assault her nephew.
She said that one of the attackers grabbed him by his shirt then pushed him into a concrete post. She said another of the attackers pulled out a gun and pointed it to the head of her nephew, while dragging him outside of the shop and into a nearby trench where the tried to drown him.
The businesswoman, who said she alerted the police, said the law enforcement officers arrived shortly after and scoured the area but came up empty handed.
Munesh sustained severe injuries to his head, feet and stomach.
