Nigel’s Supermarket wins Business Corporations title
Nigel’s Supermarket outclassed Bank of Guyana 3–1 to secure the Business Corporations title in the Kenneth De Abreu and Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) League that continued Saturday at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
The Nigel’s Supermarket team that consisted of Joseph Johnson and Christopher Franklin smote Imran Khan and Quincy Jones of Bank of Guyana on their way to an unblemished record of three wins and no loss in the Division.
NP Electronics finished second with two wins and a loss while Western Union was third with one win and two defeats and Bank of Guyana fourth with three defeats. Nigel’s won all their games against those three teams.
In other results, Division ‘A’ for Senior and Advanced Players:
Forehand Connection (Paul Meusa and Nigel Bryan) defeated Spartans (Joel Alleyne and Hewley Griffith) 3-2 in the lone match that was played in this division, which went down to the wire, taking all five sets to decide the final winner.
Meusa, after losing to Griffith in the second game 3-2, returned to win the deciding fifth game against Alleyne 3-0, while Bryan took both of his single games. This Division had attracted some six entries at the Malteenoes Sports Club.
Division ‘B’ for Advanced Players:
Turbo TT (Brandon Gomes and Sachin Panday) played two matches, winning one against Eagles (Raymond Seebarran, Gerard Budhan and Shannan Ganga) 3-0 and losing the other to Dominators (Chelsea Edghill, Olivia Weeks and Priscilla Greaves) 1-3.
Dominators became the new leaders in the semi-intermediate division with three wins and no loss with two matches to play.
The tournament will continue on Saturday at the Malteenoes Sports Club from 4:30pm.
