Nude body fished out from Strathspey Canal
The nude body of a Non Pareil man was pulled from a drainage canal near the Strathspey Pump Station on the East Coast of Demerara yesterday morning.
The discovery was made by a pump attendant who was clearing weeds from the canal at around 07:30 hours.
Investigators could not determine if the man, Rajanand Ghangru, was a victim of foul play since the body was badly decomposed.
Police said that Ghangru, 52, a Security Guard attached to the GuySuCo Estate was completely nude except for a red gold and green toque on his head.
Initially the police could not identify the victim, however his sister later got word that a body was found and she made the positive identification.
Kaieteur News understands that Ghangru was last seen on Saturday at around 5 am.
His sister told police that they did not make a missing person report since Ghangru would normally come home late at nights or sometimes not at all after imbibing in alcohol.
Police are awaiting a post mortem report to determine his cause of death.
