Teenage left-arm spinner Javeed Rasheed snatched 7-58 to help Everest take first innings points from Police in their drawn Raymond Panday/ Cummings Electrical 2-day second division cricket encounter at Eve Leary over the weekend.
Rasheed got support from Chanderpaul Hemraj (2-30) as Police made 175 in reply to Everest’s 254 with Fitzroy Cully making an undefeated 82 for the Cops.
The Camp Road side then declared their second innings closed at 81-8 leaving Police 160 to win in 10 overs and the final hour.
The Lawmen were on course for a come-from-behind victory at 87-4 with 13 overs remaining when rain ended the contest.
Brian Perriera (75) and Anil Ramdeen (61) led the Everest first innings charge as teenage spinner Parnell London took 4-30 and Orin Heyliger, the brother of National training squad selectee Delon Heyliger, 3-4.
Cully, who was left 18 short of his 3rd ton at this level and 4th overall, while Heyliger supported with a solid 41 when Police batted.
London took 3-15, national under-19 left-arm pacer Andre Stoll 2-7 and another Heyliger sibling (Jason) 2-13 for Police.
Former Guyana under-15 batsman Shameer Fazal (30*) and the left-handed Stoll (25) were the main scorers for the Lawmen in their second innings of the truncated match.
