Imam Bacchus X1 defeated Queenstown by 8 runs in the final preliminary round match of the Central Essequibo 20/20 cricket competition played recently at Queenstown, Essequibo Coast. Imam Bacchus X1 batted first and made 145-9 in 20 overs with Navindra Persaud getting 42 while Tyrone Inniss grabbed 2-10 for the home team. Queenstown then responded with 137 all out in 19 overs. Randy Brijmohan 32, Herrel Green 23 and Mohindra Boodram 23 were their main run getters. Bowling for Imam Bacchus X1 Ian Gonsalves picked up 3-29. Meanwhile, Imam Bacchus X1, Queenstown, No.1, Affiance and Ana Regina Multilateral teachers have qualified for the semi-finals which will be played on October 11th at Queenstown and Affiance.
The competition is being sponsored by Dharam Rajah Contracting Co., Talesh Furniture Store and Headley Block making.
