Dear Editor,
I thank Boyo Ramsaroop for his letter, “Why I change from PPP to AFC” in Kaieteur News of Tuesday September 22, 2009.
It was refreshing o hear the elderly gentleman share his story. It made pleasurable reading and I hope Mr. Ramsaroop shares more.
Mr. Ramsaroop urged me to think again when I said that the AFC is not the only multi-racial party.
To believe this only multi-party business Mr. Ramsaroop, Freddie Kissoon and the AFC have to prove it. Until then people will continue to put this claim where it belongs- a myth, a Nancy story, a lie.
Saying the AFC does not bus people to its conference is a fallacy to the claim of being the only multi-racial party. Observing political parties’ conventions or conferences around the world bussing people to these events are normal political fare. If the AFC had the numbers they would have done the same.
Mr. Ramsaroop, people do not believe Berbicians stayed away from the poll in support of Khemraj Ramjattan. If this is to be believed then those who stayed away or Ramjattan’s villagers who did not vote for him meant they did not think Ramjattan should be Prime Minister or did not want Raphael Trotman to be their President.
Unless you hope people accept that Ramjattan’s MP seat which was gotten on African votes makes the AFC the only multi-racial party. Besides this explanation doesn’t make sense, it requires much more for people to believe the AFC is the only multi-racial party.
