The Junior Selection Committee of the Berbice Cricket Board under the chairmanship of Leslie Solomon has announced a Berbice eighteen man squad of Under-17 players after the completion of the BCB/Republic Bank Under-17 Zone Tournament.
The squad would undergo special preparation for a specially arranged Under-17 Inter-County match versus Demerara at the Rose Hall Canje Ground next month. The Special Events Committee of the Board organised the match as an incentive for the players after being informed there would be no Under-17 Inter County Tournament by the Guyana Cricket Board this year.
The four man selection Committee consisting of Leslie Solomon, Andre Percival, Moses Samlall and Romesh Munna attended all the matches before selecting the team which would be led by victorious Lower Corentyne Veerapen Permaul.
The rest of the Berbice Team are: Trevor Thomas, Dominic Rickey, Surujnarine Kandasammy, Joemal la Fleur, Veerapen Permaul, Jamally Odle, Clinton Pestano, Lionel Lewis, Andy Mohan, Renalto Grovesnor, Gudakesh Motie Kanhai, Shawn Perreira Lloydel Lewis, Sharmendra Hardyal, Glenroy Archibald, Davendra Lalsa, Rajendra Dasrat and Kevin Ramdeen.
Meanwhile, the Selectors also announced the two Inter District teams that would play a 40-over match at the Canje Ground tomorrow as part of the Berbice Cricket Board 70th Anniversary celebration programme.
District One comprises of New Amsterdam/Canje and West Berbice, while District Two comprises of players from Lower and Upper Corentyne.
Teams are as follows:
District One: New Amsterdam/Canje/West Berbice: Sardat Harripaul, Tregon Henry, Joemal La Fleur, Jamally Odle, (Captain), Devendra Jainabi, Davendra Lalsa, Renalto Grovesnor, Quacy Kendall, Kevin Ramdeen, Linden Austin, Shawn Sattaur, Quacy McPherson, Mark Jackman and Glenroy Archibald.
District Two: Lower/Upper Corentyne: Trevor Thomas, Dominic Rickey, Clinton Pestano, Veerapen Permaul (Captain), Bisham Persaudie, Kandasammy Surujnarine, Chetram Naurang, Andy Mohan, Rajendra Dasrat, Shawn Perreira, Lloydel Lewis, Gudakesh Motie Kanhai, Lionel Lewis and Sharmindra Hardyal.
All Under-17 Players selected are asked to be at the Canje Ground by 08.30 hours in white uniforms.
