The teen, and adult male that were arrested in connection with the brutal rape of a 14-year-old girl, yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson.
The 14-year-old boy and 29-year-old man were jointly charged with having carnal knowledge of the young girl, who recounted the events for the Magistrate, retelling what had taken place that night.
According to earlier reports, the girl was on the Kitty seawall with one of the men that participated in the rape, when she was offered a ‘drink’. She, however, could not recall what happened after taking the drink, and awoke several hours later in strange surroundings.
Further reports state that the police received a call which alerted them to the teen’s plight. The call said that a naked girl was seen in a West Ruimveldt house which was occupied by several males.
As the police approached the house several men were seen fleeing from the property. However, only the two that appeared in court yesterday were found on the premises on the said day.
The fourteen year old boy was placed into police custody while the other accused was remanded to prison. They are both to return to court September 21.
