Bare Root defeated Winston Horton Paradise X1 by eight runs while Dazzel X1 defeated a Veterans’ X1 side by 41 runs when the Positive Vibes Sports Club of Paradise ECD organized 10 overs softball cricket matches were played at the Paradise ECD playfield on Sunday September 6 last.
In the BareRoot/ Paradise X1 contest, the former batted first and amassed 68 runs. They then restricted Paradise X1 to 60 runs at the end of their allotted 10 overs. Kenswell DeJonge (21) top scored for the winners with support from Dwayne McGarrell (20) and Travis James (15). Troy Joseph then returned to capture 1-13 with support from Troy Joseph (1-14) to lead their team to victory. In the second match for the day, A. Liston lashed 26 while M. Lord scored 19 to lead Dazzel X1 to 70 runs off their overs. N. Bobb then bowled 2 tight overs for 6 runs to restrict Veterans X1 to a paltry 29 runs.
The competition continues this Sunday with two fifteen overs matches between Winston Hurton Paradise X1 who will be up against a Veterans X1 while Bare Root and Dazzel Housing Scheme X1 clash in the other game. The matches will be played at the Paradise Playfield and get underway at 12:00hrs.
