Christianburg and Bayroc won their respective quarter-final matches in this year’s Upper Demerara Hand-in-Hand Second Division 50 overs Cricket Competition which continued, at the Bayroc Community Centre ground in Linden recently.
In the first game, Christianburg defeated Uprising Young Stars by 7 wickets.
Invited to bat after losing the toss, Uprising Young Stars were dismissed for 104 off 28.5 overs with Dellon Allicock hitting a top-score of 31.
Ashante Fiedtkou took 3-34, while Hilton Morrison 2-25 and Jim Jack 2-36 supported admirably.
Chasing 105 for victory, Christianburg reached the required target for the loss of just 3 wickets in 14.4 overs.
Rupert Craig remained on 42 not out, while there was one wicket apiece for Eon Rodrigues, Trenton Lashley and Ricardo Anderson.
In the other match, Bayroc beat Endeavour by 5 wickets.
Endeavour won the toss and invited the opposition into take first strike and they reached a massive 371-5 off the allotted overs thanks to a scorching century from Randy Knights, who hit 119 and Jason Craig 95.
Curtis Gomes was the pick of the bowlers for the hapless Endeavour unit, grabbing 2-65.
When Endeavour batted, they were bowled out for 187 in 41.2 overs.
Lloyd Robertson was there at the end on 67, while Chris Davidson added 52.
Bowling for Bayroc, Eon Reynolds, Leon Plass, Deon Wills and Randy Knights each had 2 wickets. Another quarter-final match is scheduled to be played this Saturday with Achievers taking on Royal Champions, at Achievers ground.
