When the Cellink Premier League (CPL) continues this evening at the Tucville ground, second placed Camptown will be severely tested by fourth placed Fruta Conquerors in the main attraction.
Home team Conquerors are coming off victory in their last game while Camptown had to fight back to earn an equal share of the spoils against Flamingo. The Campbellville based Camptown were outplayed by CPL leaders and defending champions Alpha United on the opening night of the Guyana Football Federation Super League, 3-1.
Conquerors will hope to capitalize on the low morale of their opponents while on the other hand, Camptown will certainly be seeking to redeem themselves and return to winnings ways this evening.
Nigel Codrington, who was kept quiet by Alpha’s Captain and main defender Howard Lowe on Sunday evening last along with strike partner Telson McKinnon, will have to come good this evening if they are to get past a confident Conquerors side which will be led by the experienced duo of Gerald Gritten and Lester ‘Puppy’ Peters.
This evening’s supporting clash is a bottom of the table tussle between Georgetown Football Club and Flamingo. The latter on three points are one ahead of the former. With relegation facing the bottom two in the 2-round eight-team tournament, a positive for either team will strengthen their resolve of avoiding the ignominy of trotting back to the lower level. Kick off time this evening is 18:00hrs.
