The driver of this mini bus took the easy way out by driving off the road instead of crashing into a group of schoolchildren using the pedestrian crossing.
The incident occurred on Friday afternoon on the Strathspey Public Road, East Coast Demerara, just after classes were dismissed for the day.
The driver related that he was approaching the crossing when he saw that a policeman had stopped other vehicles to allow the schoolchildren to cross.
He said that his brakes failed and he could do nothing but steer his vehicle into the ditch alongside the road.
