Off-spinner Kevin George took 8 wickets and made 27 to lead hosts DCC to victory against GCC in the latest round of the Raymond Panday & Cummings Electrical Georgetown Cricket Association 2-day 2nd division cricket competition over the weekend.
Left-arm spinner Raj Nanan grabbed 8 wickets in a losing cause for GCC who lost by 3 wickets despite a spirited late afternoon fight back by the Bourda boys.
Paul Bevon (41), Alex Ramalho (30) and national Under-19 player Jeetendra Sookdeo (26) all failed to build on good starts as GCC fell for 187.
George, a former national Under-19 player, captured 3-43 while veteran Lyndon Lyght supported with 3-16 for the Queenstown side who declared their first innings closed at 216-9.
Former Demerara youth Keeper Denver Greaves top scored with 63 and got support from Kester Harcourt (36), Jamal Hinckson (34), Lawrence Smith (32) and George (27) who all batted well for DCC.
Bevon took 4-31 while 16-year-old Nanan had 3-48 for GCC who were bowled out for 110 in their 2nd innings despite a fighting 46 from Elon Fernandes.
George bagged 5-27 to finish with match figures of 8-70 for DCC who struggled to 82-7 in their 2nd innings with Hinckson finishing unbeaten on 39.
Nanan returned to take 5-51 for match figures of 8-99. Bevon had 2-24.
