Four half-centuries and a five-wicket haul highlighted weekend play as the Barakat Brothers 40-over cricket competition continued in West Demerara.
Vivian Beckles (72), Dwayne Graham (63), Thakur Persaud (52) and Anil Singh (52) registered fifties while Dobraj Singh captured 5-15 in action on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday at Zeeburg
Independence beat Leonora by 54 runs. Independence 273 all out in 33.1 overs. (Vivian Beckles 72, Thakur Persaud 52, Anil Singh 52, David Allert 33; Shiraz Samad 2-20, Chris Sooktam 2-33, Hemendra Kowlessar 2-42)

Seven matches remain in the preliminary round leading up to the staging of the semi-finals and final.
