Preparation starts next week
The Guyana Police Force (GPF) will complete its team selection today with preparations scheduled to commence next week ahead of the annual Joint Services Track and Field Championships slated for next month.
The Police Force had held its Divisional competition last week while its main rival in the Joint Services event, the Guyana Defence Force hosted their Inter-Unit contest two weeks prior to the Police, who are defending champions.
“We only received the official results from our technical delegate today (yesterday) and by tomorrow (today) we will wrap up our team selection,” GPF Sports Officer, Assistant Superintendent, Colin Boyce told Kaieteur Sport yesterday.
According to Boyce, who is also Athletics Association of Guyana President, the logistics to commence preparation next week will be formalised this weekend. He said that he will be anticipating tough competition.
Champion male and female athletes, Trevor Scotland and Leota Bobb will headline team selection today along with national sprint champion, Michael Saul. The Guyana Defence Force has their work cut out against the Police. (Edison Jefford)
