Dear Editor,
It is amazing how the media happen to be leading the actions of the political parties.
I am a Guyanese and I expect people to say that I an outside looking in. However, newspapers all over the world operate in the same way.
Two local media houses thought it interesting and important enough to send reporters to New York for the Robert Simels trial.
The revelations were stunning, but were not private because the nation was aware of these things before. The very media houses then began to ask questions and the political parties and pressure groups latched on.
They are now making this a major issue as though they would be able to modify history.
I see their reaction and I ask myself why was it that they were not as vigilant when the killings were taking place.
As is the case, they are depending on utterances from overseas to influence internal decisions.
There are other things internal that have a more far-reaching effect than the disclosures from the Robert Simels trial.
Kaieteur News has been reporting on the over-priced contracts and the revelations seem to indicate massive fraud and deception.
This should be of concern to the political parties. It would be nice if they could spark an investigation.
It is surprising that they did not see it fit to investigate the contracts, knowing that by sitting in Parliament, they had the power to seek details in the same way as Kaieteur News did.
Indeed, the revelations have made the government very angry to the point of threatening the closure of the newspaper.
The Roger Khan issue is child’s play. The political parties should support Kaieteur News.
There is a lot wrong and the supporters need to know about how their tax dollars are being spent.
Jack Burnett
Please share this to every Guyanese including your house cats.
