Games slated for Mahaicony & Number 5 grounds
What is expected to be intense rivalry will resume today in the Coca Cola sponsored Berbice Football Association senior league with four matches fixed for today.
From 14:00hrs at the Mahaicony CDC ground, points leaders, the unbeaten New Amsterdam United will travel over the river to lock horns with new comers Strike Force United in opening play. Leading New Amsterdam is top goal scorer Adrian Adams who will be aiming to increase his tally of 9 in spearheading his team to what would be their 5th victory in 6 matches with one draw.
Two hours later, facing off in the main game will be Real Union, featuring the Fraser Brothers, Delroy and Delwin and home team Mahaicony United, with Sherwin Caesar, national Under-15 Sherwin Lewis and Newt Mahaica in goal leading their charge for victory.
Over at the Number 5 Playfield, West Coast, Berbice Scottsburg United match skills with Rosignol United whose charge will be led by their young brigade including former national Under-16 Garson Baker along with Under-15’s Mohamed Ali, Dreshaun Bishop and Odingo Carter.
In the feature match, home team, Monedderlust spearheaded by Anthio Wallace and the goal hungry Gladwin Johnson, who has 7 goals to date in the competition, will face off with the skilled Cougars in what is anticipated to be a fierce encounter.
Cougars will have in their line up, Horace Roache, Kirth Bristol and custodian Ryan Kellowan.
