Timeka Adams was harshly rewarded for her efforts after intervening in a fight; she emerged with an injured arm.
It is alleged that on August 9, Julian George unlawfully and maliciously wounded Adams, who was seen in court with a bandaged arm.
According to reports, the defendant and another man had gotten into an argument. After intervening, Adams ‘was pelted with bricks’ by George.
George, who pleaded guilty to the charge, explained that he did not mean to hit Adams with the bricks, saying that she ‘come from behind with a wood.’ The defendant told the court that the whole street was taking part in a ‘jam’. He further stated that it was as he had proceeded into ‘the yard’ that another man stopped him and pulled him out of the yard, telling him that he did not pay enough at the gate.
Admitting to the court that he was ‘high’, George said he left the party and returned with a cutlass. He however stated that nothing happened, and that he was leaving when the virtual complainant approached him with a piece of wood.
It was then that he decided to ‘pelt she with the bricks.’
The Police Prosecutor told the court that the defendant has been previously charged with the same offence, against a different person.
After listening to George and the prosecution, Magistrate Priya Beharry remanded the defendant. He is scheduled to return to court on September 11.
