Company committed to club’s holistic development
BK International yesterday afternoon at their Mandela Avenue headquarters, handed over their quarterly contribution to Western Tigers Football Club to aid in the continued development of the club.
General Manager of the entity Raj Singh in brief remarks at the presentation ceremony, which was also attended by Managing Director of BK International Brian Tiwari, a number of staff members, President of Western Tigers Gordon Gilhuys and other executive members, noted that the company has been supporting the club for a number of years and they were proud of their overall achievement to date.
“We urge you to keep that up and to aim for bigger things, don’t drop just keep growing. On behalf of BK International we wish you all the best and keep the good work up.”
Public Relations Officer of the club Brentnol Bourne in response thanked BK International for their continued support and investment in the club at every level, pointing out that their support has enabled the club to survive in trying economic times. “You have continued to show the commitment for the development of the
youths in West Ruimveldt and we want to assure you that whatever contributions are given is well utilised and accounted for in the interest of the youths and the sport.”
BK International has been supporting the West Ruimveldt based Western Tigers ever since 2007 on a consistent basis. The entity is currently in the process of renovating the fence at the club ground in West to ensure while the club is in the process of securing more sponsorship to further develop the surface.
They earned their right to compete in the Premier League ranks for the 2009 season after claiming the top spot in the Banks Beer Division One League.
Their captain Delon Fraser was named the most valuable player of the league while his teammate Devon Millington copped the trophy for being the highest goal scorer. Both players were presented with trophies by Brian Kevin Tiwari.
BK International Western Tigers are currently placed at 5th out of 8 teams in the Cellink Premier League and just last Sunday drew with leaders Alpha United 0-0 at the Tucville Community Centre ground. On Friday they will face the Guyana Defence Force in what is expected to be a scorcher. (Franklin Wilson)
