Guyoil/Castrol has again given a helping hand to the National Shotokan Karate Team to attend the 8th ISKF/CKC Karate Championships, to be hosted by the St. Lucia Shotokan Karate Association, at the Beausejour Indoor Sporting Facility in St. Lucia, August 13 to 16. This International Shotokan Karate Federation sanctioned tournament will see the Caribbean Karate College being represented. The 12-member national team includes last year’s World Championships medalists, Kemo Cornelius, Kristina Cheeks, Leah Shariff, Christy Dey, Samuel Ming, Eric Hing and Shane Wilkinson along with Nathalie Gibson, Mikhail Broomes, Darien Dey and Lloyd Gibson, all of whom medaled at the last local championships in June this year.
At the handing over, done at the YMCA dojo, Castrol Brands Manager, Mr. Leonard Khan and Retails Sales Officer, Jacqueline James encouraged the team members to continue to do well and to fly the flag of Guyana proudly as they have done at the World Championships.
Sensei Amir Khouri, who is accompanying the team, expressed his thanks on behalf of the Association for the assistance, and promised to perform to their best at the Championships.
