Following the intervention of the National Association of Agricultural Commercial and Industrial Employees, the staff members of the National Frequency Management Unit have called off their strike.
According to NAACIE General Secretary, Kenneth Joseph, the union signed terms of agreement with the NFMU yesterday during a meeting with officials from the Ministry of Labour.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Labour, and the parties were represented by Mr. Valmike Singh of the NFMU, and Mr. Kenneth Joseph, Faye Fraser and Roopnarine Tiwari of NAACIE.
The agreement countersigned by Mr. Yoganand Persaud, Chief Labour Officer.
The terms of resumption include the union calling off the strike of its members as of yesterday with full resumption by 8:00 hours on Monday August 3; and that there shall be no victimisation by either party.
Joseph pointed out that the company has also agreed to allow the workers to receive their full salaries.
On Friday last, a male employee of the NFMU was detained by police after his superiors reported that he was responsible for a few radio sets going missing.
To show solidarity for their colleague, some workers decided to take industrial action.
Following the industrial, action two employees were sent home.
While on strike, the man was released on bail, but his colleagues informed their employer that they will not return to work until he was reinstated.
So far all the employees have been reinstated.
