Doctors have managed to stabilise the condition of Lloyd Smith, 64, of 106 Third Street, Prospect East Bank Demerara.
Smith was struck down by a police vehicle in the vicinity of the Alberttown Police Station, Wednesday afternoon.
Yesterday, Smith’s wife, Sandra Smith, said that her husband’s condition has improved. “He is talking to relatives and responding well to treatment,” the wife said.
The woman said that they are awaiting the police to come and take a statement from her husband.
Smith sustained injuries to the neck, hand and foot, after he was struck down.
An eyewitness to the accident had told Kaieteur News that the police vehicle was proceeding at a fast rate when it struck Smith. The injured man was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Sandra Smith had said that her husband, who is employed as an electrical contractor, left home with over a $100,000 cash to conduct business.
However Kaieteur News understands that the man only arrived at the hospital with less than $20,000.
