– Admin Courses could commence mid-month
The eagerly anticipated ‘Win in CONCACAF with CONCACAF’ Senior National League is now targeted to start in August instead of the previously proposed July month end.
This is according to General Secretary of the Guyana Football Federation (GFF) Noel Adonis, who made the disclosure to Kaieteur Sport via telephone yesterday.
The League is suppose to follow an Administrative Courses Workshop set for mid-month, which is geared to acquaint clubs on all the necessary factors pertaining to participating in the League.
Adonis said that the Admin Courses for clubs form part of the directive given by FIFA Development Officer Keith Lok Loy, who is responsible for approving the National League.
President of the GFF Colin Klass, who is currently out of the country performing duties as a Match Commissioner at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in the USA, had stated in the past, the desire of the Federation to hold such courses in its effort to improve the football infrastructure and build capacity within clubs, before staging the inaugural National League.
“We are conducting these courses with the aim of ensuring the venture is a true success,” Klass said.
He did add that the courses will cater for coaches, administrators, referees, marketing personnel and match commissioners and that they are in the process of discussing the dates for these lectures with Lok Loy for his approval.
However, Adonis disclosed that even though they were given the go ahead and all the affiliated associations have been alerted, there are some areas of the venture that would require funding so that may also force a re-scheduling of the Courses.
Asked whether the Resource Team will be made up of local lecturers, Klass’ response was “not in all cases, but if we see a need to solicit a person (s) from overseas, we would certainly make a request to Lok Loy and wait on his assistance.”
According to him, they were advised by Lok Loy to initiate the national tournaments with the running off of the junior programmes in the Under-13, 15 and 17 categories along with the Ladies.
These competitions could start after the completion of the courses.
