Stabbed Meadow Bank man stable
Orin Duncan, 44, of 608 South Turkeyen, Sophia, is counting his lucky stars after he survived a vicious attack by persons with whom he had an altercation Sunday night at Meadow Bank, East Bank Demerara.
Duncan sustained two stab wounds to the region of the heart, and multiple bruises about the body after being beaten with pieces of wood.
When this newspaper visited Duncan yesterday at the hospital, he still complained of severe pains.
“My entire body just hurting and I just trying to find a side to lie on so I could get some rest” Duncan explained.
According to the injured man, on Sunday he was visiting his mother who resides at Meadow Bank, when the incident happened around 7:30pm.
Duncan told this newspaper that he was drinking with some friends in front of the Guyana Fisheries, when an argument ensued between him and another man.
He said that the argument ended but two other men whom he also knows became annoyed about the argument.
“Imagine me and de man who was arguing, finish arguing, and these two men pick up de fire rage and do this to me” Duncan said.
He said that after that happened he used an expression which angered the two men.
“I turn and ask de two of them if dem is anti-men” Duncan explained.
A scuffle ensued between the three; at this point Duncan was “boxed in between the two men”. Duncan said that although he was fighting back with the suspects, he became defenseless after being stabbed.
“When they stab me I done think that I dead boy and give up”. Duncan who was stumbling, managed to run back to his mother’s residence where he collapsed in front of the gate. He was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he underwent surgery. The man said that he never had a problem with either of the suspects and the attack took him by a total surprise.
He further told Kaieteur News that he has given the police a detailed statement. He also recalled telling the police that the suspects live in the Agricola nigbhourhood.
