Persons living in the environs of Parika and Fort Wellington can look forward to free medical services over the next few days, as an overseas based medical team will be conducting medical outreach programmes in the two areas.
Dr. Claudette Thomas-Heyliger of Alanta and a team of doctors along with two nurses from Canada, will commence their humanitarian mission today at the First Missionary Church in Parika.
At the Parika outreach clinic, there will be a nose, ear and throat physician, a Cardiologist, an Audiologist, a Pediatrician, a Neurologist and a general Practitioner.
The team is expected to be in Parika until tomorrow.
On Thursday and Friday the team will be at the Fort Wellington Hospital where they are expected to provide the same services free of charge.
Dr. Thomas who is heading the team said that this visit is as a result of a partnership with Food for the Poor Guyana, All God’s Children Foundation and Deskan Institute and Training.
Meanwhile, yesterday, the team took time out to pay a visit to the Georgetown Public Hospital’s Maternity Ward.
During the visit there, the team presented mothers and expecting mothers with toys.
Prior to the visit, the team conducted Continuing Medical Education training for some of their local counterparts. The training session which was held yesterday was conducted by Dr. Ralph Rudy who is a nose, ear and throat specialist.
