Minibus accident victim dies after days in coma

Seventeen days after a minibus accident left her with a fractured skull and an amputated leg, 47-year-old Bibi Neisha Alli died at the Georgetown Hospital without regaining consciousness.
One of Alli’s three daughters told Kaieteur News that her mother succumbed at around 03:30 hrs on Saturday in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit.
She reportedly suffered a fractured skull and doctors had also amputated her left leg.
According to reports, Alli was standing on the East Coast Demerara Public Road near Montrose when a minibus struck her.
A friend who was nearby found her lying unconscious on the roadway.
Alli was rushed to the GPHC where she was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit with a fractured skull. Doctors were forced to amputate her left leg.
The driver was detained but was released on station bail.
