Former Guyana Under-19 fast bowling all-rounder Ryan Hercules played the biggest game of his life last Wednesday and although he was not outstanding he will never forget the day.
Hercules, who took the best fielder award in the 2007 West Indies Under-19 series in Guyana, only made 10 before he was dismissed in the 48th over trying to accelerate the scoring, before taking 2-48 from 10 overs.
But it was the importance of the game itself that will be a lasting memory for the talented youth since he was playing for an MCC X1 against North Yorkshire. Hercules was in fact on a hat-trick and he broke the stump when he took one of his wickets.
The 20-year-old from East Bank Essequibo told Kaieteur Sport on Wednesday night, that at the beginning of the game he was presented with a MCC Cricket jersey which he played with.
“I also got the stump I broke ….it was a great experience for me. I was on a hat-trick and I also broke a stump…. that was pretty great. It was a really great game I enjoyed playing at a high level like that,” Hercules said. “Jim Love, former England player, captained our team and talked to me after the game. He gave me some good advice on how to improve my cricket and he thinks I am a good all rounder,” Hercules disclosed MCC made 198 for 8 in 50 overs, before North Yorkshire reached their target in the 49th over.
