Sex abuse allegations against sergeant...
Police investigators were expected to seek legal advice concerning the alleged sexual abuse of several teenage boys by a police sergeant at the Mackenzie Police Station.
A senior police official told Kaieteur News that the team that traveled to Linden to investigate the allegations was expected to complete its investigation yesterday.
“The ranks should return today and from there we will seek legal advice,” the official said.
According to the official, all the perceived victims have been questioned.
However, he refuted some media reports that stated that the sergeant has not been reporting for duty.
Kaieteur News understands that the sergeant was ordered to report to Georgetown on Monday in connection with the allegations that have been leveled against him.
The seven boys, ranging in age between 13 and 14, were questioned at the Wismar Police Station last month following reports that they had sex with a 14-year-old girl.
Some of the juveniles subsequently alleged that the sergeant who interviewed them forced them to expose their privates and threatened to place them in the lockups if they refused.
The allegations were subsequently reported to senior police officials.
The sergeant has some 30 years service.
Attempts by Kaieteur News to contact the accused sergeant have been unsuccessful.
