The two month-old baby who was born with a defect in the bone of the skull, that led persons to believe that she had three heads, is said to be resting comfortable at home.
According to an official from the Georgetown Public Hospital, the baby was discharged from the institution on Friday, after spending one week.
This newspaper was told that the baby was released in her mother’s care in a healthy condition, but is still required to make regular visits to the Pediatric clinic for routine check ups.
When this newspaper contacted the baby’s mother over the weekend, she said that the child was doing well.
Almost a week ago, it was highlighted that the baby was born with ‘three heads’.
However, a medical practitioner had told this newspaper that the baby was born with a condition called Meningocele.
This, the doctor explained was due a bone defect in the baby’s skull during the pregnancy. As a result of the condition, the baby has two huge sacks protruding from the head filled with liquids and there is a possibility that the sacks also contain brain tissues.
Dr. Clive Bowman in an interview, had explained that the condition was due to either a vitamin deficiency problem with the mother during her pregnancy or a genetic problem.
Apart from being born with the deficiency which has left the baby with what looks like two heads, the baby was also born with cleft palate.
Currently the mother of the child is in consultation with a Maxillo-facial Surgeon, on the possibility of surgery for the cleft palate.
The likelihood of surgery for the two protruding sacks is still being looked at by doctors at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
Two months ago, the young mother gave birth to the baby girl which is her first child.
The woman gave birth to the baby via baby C-section and her baby was showed to her some three days after delivery.
