Embattled promoter, Colin Mack, is to know his fate today when Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson is expected to make a ruling to determine whether a “prima facie” case was made against him.
Colin Mack made a court appearance yesterday and was further remanded to prison.
At yesterday’s hearing, both the virtual complainant and her mother were re-examined by police prosecutor Denise Griffith.
The victim was made to identify the clothing she was wearing the night of the alleged rape.
Further cross re-examination was declined by Attorney-at-law Glenn Hanoman. The magistrate then instructed both parties that she would make her ruling today to determine whether a “prima facie” case has been made against Mack.
The preliminary inquiry took many turns during its two-month duration, with a prime piece of evidence disappearing from a police package only to reappear hours later at the East La Penitence Police Station.
Another twist in the case was when a man purporting to be an officer attached at the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit was charged with trying to pervert the witness and her mother.
Anthony Szala pleaded not guilty and was subsequently placed on $75,000 bail.
Among those testifying have been the victim and her mother, a taxi driver, Superintendent of Police Aubrey Joseph and Female Lance Corporal Baker.
Mack is accused of raping the 19-year-old on April 12 at his Festival City home.
According to reports the victim who described her ordeal as harrowing was held against her will in a Festival City house for several hours.
