According to reports emanating from neighbouring Suriname, Guyana went down to Antigua 2-1 in their opening match of the Parbo Bier Cup football tournament.
Peter Parks netted in the 34th minute to give Guyana the lead, which they held for a long period. That advantage was negated in the 79th minute when Antigua’s persistence paid off and in the dying stages the Antiguans scored again for the win.
Guyana were hopeful of a revenge win in this contest to make up for their loss to the Antiguans in the last Digicel Championship where they went down 2-1.
The new look and youthful Guyana ‘Golden Jaguars’ will hope for a much improved performance and to find winning ways.
