Female game to be played in memory of Janet Jagan
The annual Cheddi B. Jagan memorial football competition organised by the Berbice Football Association (BFA) is set to commence on Sunday at the Port Mourant Community Centre ground.
According to the BFA, this tournament will be used as its pre-season competition and teams will be aiming to whip themselves into top shape for the ensuing Association competitions.
The traditional march past of affiliated clubs will precede the kick off of the tournament while a specially arranged match in honour of the memory of the Late Janet Jagan, Guyana’s first female President, will also be played.
The launch will culminate with an under-15 inter association match between Berbice and Georgetown.
Meanwhile, West Berbice Masters and their counterparts from Georgetown Football Club will square off this afternoon from 16:00hrs in a match of the Guyana Masters League.
The West Berbice side has played 3 matches to date, winning one and losing two.
A warm up match between the Berbice under-15’s and an under-17 line up will precede this afternoon’s masters encounter.
